Ashley Beaumont – Euromillions Millionaire Raffle Winner

A Barnsley man has scooped the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle jackpot, banking the guaranteed million pound prize in the draw on 19th February 2010. He hopes to use the win to go abroad for the first time in his life.

Since the first draw on 13th November 2009 the game, which guarantees a UK millionaire every week, has created 16 winners of £1 million each. Born and bred in the South Yorkshire town, Ashley Beaumont is the first Raffle winner to go public and he is looking forward to sharing his win with family and friends.

The Barnsley Football club fan has always dreamt of visiting New York one day and a cruise from Southampton to the big apple is top of his shopping list.

Ashley said: “I haven’t been able to go on holiday for over 12 years as I am wheelchair bound and need round the clock care, but this win means I can go abroad for the first time in my life and I can also take my two carers with me too! I’m really looking forward to sailing into the harbour and seeing the view that I have seen so many times on the TV.

“I used to work down the pits, but have also worked around the UK in London and the Cotswolds. It would be really great to be able to look up some old friends and catch up on the past.”

Dad of three grown up children, Ashley asked one of his regular carers, to check his ticket for him as his eyesight isn’t that great. She discovered that he only had one number from in the main EuroMillions draw but as she checked the unique Raffle number, she realised he had won the guaranteed UK jackpot of £1 million. She checked the ticket over and over again before telling Ashley he was a winner.

As well as the chance to travel, Ashley has always loved the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s and is excited at the prospect of visiting the world famous Fifth Avenue store. “I’ve never wanted to fly but it would be good to see some of the world,” he said.
